I want to go on record as opposing an expansion or any measure that is designed to draw more pedestrian and car traffic to an already problematic intersection. As it is, it typically takes up to 10 minutes travel the single mile between my house and the E. Blithedale freeway entrances if I have to do it between 8am-9am or 2pm-6pm.
The whole point of the 76 expansion is to draw more traffic, so I am skeptical of any study that claims there would be little impact on traffic. You need to look very carefully at who is providing the traffic analysis and by whom he/she is being paid, and whether they are truly practicing due diligence.
By example, David Parisi, when consulting on behalf of Jonathan Parker's quest to develop the 5/15 La Goma site x Miller Ave., initially projected that there would actually be less traffic if the proposed development took place, even with the addition of at 20-30 cars in residence on the block. It was later found that these so-called analyses had been conducted outside the hours of 8am-5pm on business days and/or during holiday periods. A later, more thorough analysis (ironically, I think Mr. Parisi did this one too, but this study was not paid for by the developer) found La Goma site x Miller to be one of the worst traffic intersections in Marin.
Thank you for receiving this comment.
Sincerely,
Karen M. Serlin
